I'm meeting my prof and he's a very blunt, hard nosed man. I've never been in this situation before. I have no idea how to dig myself out of this horrible hole. What do I say? Is there any chance I could rewrite this exam or fix this horrible mess. How could I go about suggesting it? Should I use a certain tact. I would hate to have to miss my graduation and register for one more term to write this exam again....Any suggestions would be so appreciated! Reply to this Question Share |

You don't give an age but I am guessing you are talking about the end of school / college / uni here.
Remember that you are not a child any more. You are here to get your qualification. He is there to help you achieve that.
So just act professionally and so will he.
Simply ask him what your options are for retaking. It is likely that you may have to graduate a few months later. I did when I failed one of my modules at uni. It was a shame but not a huge deal in the grand scheme of life.
Talk to him about how you know you will pass it in a retake and that you want to graduate as soon as possible so you can go on to find a job / further education.
Good Luck!! xx

As soon as you get in to see him, tell him how bad you feel and ask if you can resit the exam. After all you have thought of a possible solution.
It is unlikely you are the only one. He will probably have come across lots of people who've had to resit exams before.
