Hello, just a quick question maybe a daft one but answers may help, have any guys got tips on how to not beat my stuff over things and dwell on them? for example I did go the gym 3 years back and started doing well but lost motivation and want to start again properly. I have tried a month back but I keep tellin myself what's the point I will just give up or its too late now by the time I've trimmed down I will start goin bald.

now I know that is a daft one but that's how I feel with anything about me be it gettin a job or gettin a girl . I'm my own worst critic or a realist .. thanks again guys

A male reader, CMMP United States +, writes (21 October 2013):

You're beating yourself up because you're not living up to your own expectations. So instead of being proud of yourself you are critical of yourself WHICH IS A GOOD THING. If you stopped caring you'd weigh a thousand pounds and never get within ten feet of a girl again.

So instead of slacking, just do it. You can lose a ton of weight from diet and exercise, in a relatively little time. Besides, would you rather be fat and bald or fit and bald? I started losing my hair when I was relatively young but i always managed to get girls because I kept in pretty decent shape (among other reasons).

Instead of wondering how you can stop beating yourself up, why don't you learn how to motivate yourself?

Honeypie agony auntEveryone are their own worst critic. Nothing strange there, so no worries.

As for the GYM, stop letting yourself ruin it. If you decide that you HAVE to go 2 times a week, then STICK to it. After a few weeks you up it to 3-4 then 5 days a week and before long you will transfer that into other parts of your life. Start small and then KEEP moving forward.

If you have one day you are NOT motivated, go any ways. Do something you normally don't like the thread-mill (or whatever you normally don't) something that keeps you moving even if you rather sit at home.

Don't decide to go 5 days a week if that is too much, rather go slow to start and then keep adding.

Don't give up. Remember how it felt back when you used to go regularly.
