 Just let him know that you appreciate his friendship but at the moment you arent looking for anything else. If you don't say anything at all to him he will probably be a nuisance to you and eventually the words you do say to him may not be very nice. So on a nice note I'd just suggest you tell him the truth of how you feel about it.

 What you typed is probably as gentle as it gets. I am sure he will understand, if he doesn't, he probably is not ready for a relationship anyway.
