i've been in ur position, i've known a guy since i was 2 and a few years ago i liked him and i told him. but he didnt feel the same and ever since our friendship hasnt quite been the same.
take things slowly
drop hints, like normal hints u'd give any other girl and see how she responds. ask to hang out and flirt with her. if she freaks a little or doesnt return the flirting. leave it.
or another thing that may work is, ask for her advice, ask her what she would do if she was in ur position. hope i've helped :)
