A female reader, MT19 United Kingdom +, writes (31 January 2008):

Ask your girlfriend to talk to her friend and tell her she wants to sit with you on the way back. Youre not being unreasonable as you are both sitting with friends on the way up you just want to sit with eachother on the way back.

Tell her not to be argumentative with her friend but forceful. She is telling her friend what she wants not asking for permission. If her friend is any kind of good friend she will be fine and if she's not than perhaps she's not worth being friends with in the first place.!

Good Luck !!!

kenny agony auntI think that your girlfriend has got to make her own decisions, and not be controlled by her mate. Ok so you want to sit next to her on the way back, and she wants to sit with you. So talk to her her and arrange to sit with each other, start as you mean to go on and don't let her mate govern what she does.

Good luck
