writes:well im going through very tough times i have been with this girl for about 6 years, long distance and together we were engaged for about 2 years but she broke off the engagement due to her not trusting me and a couple of lies that i said many years ago.Its been 5 months since we broke off and i have been trying to get back with her so bad but i have had no success, so im just about done with my trying, shes very strong on her point that she cannot be with me because she cannot trust me but i always tell her that im not that way and im not, i have changed and grown up so much. i love her so much but i just cannot be her friend as she wants to stay, i believe its way to hard so tomorrow we are going out to dinner and drinks and im going to say my goodbye as a gentleman is supposed to do for someone who he loved so much... i just want to know what should i do or is there any advice on a way to say my goodbye or what should i do? i hope to hear any advice thank you to all that respond.

Don't make it a goodbye. You can't just cut it off like an appendage. You just meet, keep it platonic, and make sure you tell her that you're pleased that you have BOTH decided to move on with your lives. From that point on, just don't try to get back with her anymore and actually move on with someone in a nearby zipcode this time.
