hi, my boyfriend and i decided to split up last week, but the relationship ended in good terms and we both decided to be friends, i really think very higly of him as a person and really want to be close friends, so my question is should i write to him? or should i wait for him to write to me?

also ,should i take the first step, how much time does it have to pass so i can talk to him again? sorry if this isn't too clear i'm not a natural speaker

I think it's great that you both decided to be friends. Are you sure that he is as enthusiastic about being friends as you are, though?

If you are unsure of this, I would suggest that you take it easy. Maybe wait a week or so before you ease into a friendship. The point is to take it slowly. It can be painful or weird at first if you have dated for a long time. Even if it is an amicable break-up, it's still an adjustment.
