A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

i made a friend few months back and we got along really well, we dated for a few months and everything was great. At that time i was still living with my ex and i was not over him completely. i made a trip with my friend and he was really there for me and helped me a lot during my bad time. he took care of me, made sure i'm ok. i was in the worst place in my life because i was going through a very bad breakup at that time. when i came back from the trip i made with him i appologised for my behavior over there and invited him out with a few friends couple of times but he didn't come.

i didn't make the effort to be there for him like a friend would be, not even on his birthday or didnt even help him move to his new place. i feel really bad i havent kept in touch with him like i should have only because i was embarrased. Two months have passed now and i want to call him but i dont know exactky what to say? i wan't to send him something for his new place and include a card or something like that. what should i say or write on it? is it too late to rebuild friendship

A male reader, anonymous, writes (7 November 2012):

Did this friendship include having sex? Many guys will willingly lend a shoulder to a damsel in distress just for the benefits. He was aware you were living with your ex and just out of a breakup so sounds like he may have scooped in at the right time and raided the loot. I wouldn't assume you owe him a thing.
