How do I know if I stand out to him?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *olaBolla writes:

There's this guy I heard has a soft spot for me, and I like him back. Typically he's a pretty big flirt (not a player, just really flirty). Before, he used to flirt with/ cuddle with girls all the time in front of me.

Lately, he seems more hesitant about it. We were standing in a group of mutual friends, and this really pretty girl starts flirting hardcore with him. I keep smiling and act like it doesn't mean anything (even though I'm seething inwardly). He steps away from her, and stands in front of me and continues talking to her while looking at me.

Is he doing this just to my face, to "win me over"? Or does he sincerely care about me?

A female reader, m. Italy +, writes (26 November 2010):

Well, according to me and my experiences he's very into you. Usually guys do that thing because they think it works with girls, but it actually doesn't, because we don't understand if they're interested to us or not. So be sure he feels something for you. But be careful, all the boys who have done with me those things were such bad boys...they broke my heart. Usually a "player" still be a player, so be careful. Who knows, maybe you will change him :)
