Don't let your mom or sister influence you, I see no reason why you couldn't wear a tampon. It just takes some trial and error, it's easiest to do if you stand up, prop one foot up say on the toilet, insert the applicator and push upwards gently and just think about something else, it should go right in with a slight resistance at first, but just keep pushing and then remove he applicator...make sure the string is visible at the bottom of the applicator before you start....
Change tampons at least every two hours, and don't wear them over night while sleeping use a pad, to avoid toxic shock syndrome.
Good luck.

My mom and two older sisters cant wear tampons and I was wondering if I might be the same way. Another question I want to ask is how come some women cant wear tampons?

I think your best bet for first time is with an applicator. Def! much easier to get the angle right, and much more comfortable.
I learnt how to apply by trial and error.
Like the other post says, you will get a leaflet with the pack that will tell you what to do.

Please ask your mother about this, she'll be glad to help you out, when you buy a box of tampons, there are diagrams on the box that explain how you do it and a diagram of your femle parts so you kind of get the angle right.
It is really pretty simple. Tampons are a matter of personal preference, but you may want to start out with thins and see how those work for you...a lot depends on how heavy your flow is, you know Aunt Flow....
I like the ones that come with plastic applicators as I find them more comfortabl than most of the cardboard types to put in, but there again, it really is a matter of preference. Playtex are the ones I use.
