In Australia it is only available by prescription. Don't forget std's use a condom aswell.

As you are not in the UK I am not 100% sure.
You probably do have to see a doctor though as there are many different types of the Pill and he has to check your blood pressure and that you don't have any other problems.
Eg. I get migraines so can't take certain kinds.
It's best to talk to a doctor or nurse about it anyway. Most people who get pregnant while on the pill do so because they have taken it wrong, so it's best to get all the advice you can.
