 It takes practise. Personally, I don't like it when people stare too long. It gets creepy. Presuming he isn't doing the "creepy-stare", you'll move beyond it in time. The best way to start is to fake it.
Pretend you are not uncomfortable for a few minutes at a time.
Also, feel free to ask him to stop staring. It can get uncomfortable for even the most confident of us, if people stare too often and for too long.

Make a point of smiling at yourself in a mirror, and when he says you're pretty. Also, is there a reason that you don't feel good aout yourself?
