How do I get over this so I can see the real him even when I'm not in contact, so I can finally move on?!

Delete his number, then never speak to him again. You feel this way because you are not allowing yourself enough time to get over him, and you occasionally are in contact and that can only make it worse. If you truly want to get over him, never contact him again and focus on your own life.
