writes:Hi, I'm 16 years old and I really like this guy at the local sports club. I'm not entirely sure where I would stand on like a friendship scale. I mean we've known each other about two years and we get on well, but I haven't met his friends so I don't know how he would act with them, especailly since he's three years older than me.When I see him, is there any way of dropping subtle hints to say I like him. We already joke alot and he does tease me sometimes, and sometimes I retort back, but I'm not used to quick exchanges like that and can only sometimes find a good reply. I don't want to full on flirt - that's not me - but I guess my real question is: is there anything I could do to hint about how I feel?

Catgirl222222: I do try to show interest but while being natural as possible...I talk to other poeple then go back to talk to him, etc. Just because if it doesn't work out I don't want other people starting gossip etc. I'm quite shy really.
Ginalolabridga: I have wondered about the age gap...but I guess I'll just have to see how it goes! What do you think personally (tell me honestly :D )
By the way I saw him the other night at the sports club and the odd time after playing really well he would give me a high-five and one time he sort of patted me on the back to encourage me...Does that mean anything or am I reading into this too much??

 You don't always have to flirt outrageously to find out if a guy likes you. Subtle hints like holding his gaze for a second longer than you should and smiling at him [although not too much, you don't want the hanger-in-mouth look!] might get his attention. Also look out for signs of him turning his body towards you while he talks to people, or smiling at you. It doesn't matter how he acts with his friends, as long as he's nice to you. Show a little interest in him and get to know what he likes. Keep joking around with him- this is an ideal way to check out if he likes you. Good luck!
