writes: Okay, so me and my girlfriend have been together for almost 3 years now, I moved about 3 hours away a year into our relationship.I love my girlfriend, she is my first love and my first and only sexual partner.Lately I feel like we are drifting apart, we don't talk as much, she doesn't open up to me like she used even when I still open up to her about everything.We get on the phone, say hey and everything, and basically do whatever we were doing, but not talk to each other...just silence really.And to add to it, I'm in the process of joining the Marines.I don't know what I would do without her, she is my best friend as well as my girlfriend but there is this distance and I couldn't stand to know that she was with someone else.How do you think I should handle this? I've talked to her about feeling distant and she just blows the conversation off, but still tells me she loves me and that she wants to stay with me.how do I handle this confusion?

reader, anonymous, writes (6 May 2010): First of all make sure you let her know how much you love her, surprise her by having flowers delivered to her house and have the florist write a sweet note on the card or something, chicks love that sort of thing. I don't know how old you two are but maybe plan a weekend getaway. You probably just need to spend some time together. Good luck man.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 May 2010): It was inevitable that with moving far away you would grow distant as you'd see each other less!! It's a shame but unless you move nearer i'm sure the problem will stay.
