We started talking again after a year and I came to realize that she has liked me since the 6th grade, and so have I. I have asked her out and she said no because she was afraid to be hurt again. Ever since that day, we haven't talked like we used to. I'd be lucky just to get a simple hello from her now. I still deeply love her and I know she still loves me, but I can't get a connection with her. How do I convince her that I won't break her heart?

How do you know you wont break her heart?
You may love her deeply now, but what about in 5 years time?
She sounds like she knows what she wants and shes still getting over her last relationship.
Dont force romance on her, let her know that if she just wants to be friends, thats fine with you. Or you will wait until she is ready.
Persuading someone into a relationship is not a good idea and can cause resentment.
