How do I ask my coworker out on a date?

A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi guys.

I'm really struggling to figure out this guy at the moment. I like him, he's attractive, intelligent, funny and enthusiastic- the ideal package really. He's a about 10 years older but I don't see that as a problem because I've always fancied older men.

I met him at a work event but he's in charge of a different department so we don't really come into contact at work apart from at the odd meeting.

I just wondered if you guys think he fancies me. He always complements me with stuff like "you're very charming and sweet" and when he introduces me to people at staff meetings he tells them how good I am at my job and how I'm so enthusiastic (weird because he's never seen me work). I often catch him staring at me in meetings and when we make eye contact he holds it for what feels like forever. He smiles whenever I make a point or my name is mentioned.

I hope you guys can help and point me in a direction. I'd like to get to know him better and maybe go for a coffee or a date but don't know how to ask?
