 The fact that you haven't mentioned ANY feelings for each other (neither your own or his), I think it would be safe to say that this isn't a romantic relationship.
The best way to go about asking him this is to ask him how he sees the future regarding yourself and your baby girl. Does he see the two of you being together and raising your daughter? Or does he see himself settling down with another woman and having another family? If he shows absolutely no signs of commitment to YOU (This is separate from the commitment to your child), then I'm afraid it might just be sex. Easiest way is to just ask him straight.
