i think your right bout the face-face thing! its the best way. start tlking 2 her about the dance, and then see if shes goin with anyone. if shes not you should just go for it. say something like:
well, if uve got no1 2 go wiv we could go together jst as friends. then see wot hapens. if she likes you then ask her out again. you never know she mite like you, and even ask you first! jst giv it a go. worst thing that can possibly hapen is that she says no. so what? its not the end of the world! i know its scary but yov gota do it!!

reader, anonymous, writes (3 December 2006): ask here face to face!!! bring up the conversation of the dance by asking her if she heard about it...if she is going, or wants to etc and once you get the feeling she wants to go then just say "why don't we make a date of it and go together"...then throw in a joke...so if she does say no its not awkward...like "if you don't mind going with someone who can't dance....or ....if you don't mind trying to dance to jingle bells...." good luck
