I have looked at myself before, but I dont know what it looks like. I've heard its just a layer of skin, is that true? And how bad will it hurt when it breaks, either in sex or from sports? Will I feel it when its not sexually related?

Exercise like Gymnastics, Horseback riding, dancing. think of exercises that put your legs in such a position like a split. This can break your hymen. Theres a thin sheet of skin which is detached when your hymen is broken and usually bleeding.
