writes: Dear Cupid,This may sound gross, but it's really been bothering me, and I was hoping that someone on this site would be able to help me out.One of my biggest problems is that I sweat. Now, I'm not talking about after gym class or cheerleading practice. I can be doing something as simple as putting on my lipstick or even just sitting in class, and next thing I know, the underside of the sleeves of my shirt are, like, totally soaked. And what's worse is that all of the wetness sometimes becomes visible. I'm afraid to even raise my hand up all the way when one of my teachers asks a question because I'm afraid that someone will see the staining and...well, pretty much, my entire high-school career would be ruined and I'd forever be remembered as the Sweat Princess or something like that. I've always been slightly self-conscious, but now, I'm REALLY self-conscious. How am I supposed to ever put my arm around a guy (if, you know, someone ever asks me out)? I'm even afraid to hug people because of it.I understand that, as human beings, we sweat from time to time, but no one else I know sweats like this. What can I do? And can anyone reccomend some strong antiperspirants? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I know I always was embarrassed because I had those ugly pit stains, then I found you can buy over the counter special roll on 'deodorants' that can fix it. I use Maxim Antiperspirant For Hyperhidrosis, I got it online and had it shipped. No prescription necessary. I have used it for years now, and its great. Another product is Certain Dri antiperspirant. Both are roll ons. If these don't work and you still have problems, then I would suggest seeing a doctor.
Good Luck!

They got referred via their GP and were offered botox injections in their armpits.
If you live in the UK, you can now get this free of charge on the NHS...
Can't remember how long it lasts, but works very well and they are back to enjoying life...

Do see your doctor, I'm sure there is something they can do about it.
There are laser treatments for this problem, though I don't know too much about them. They are available from beauty salons and plastic surgery clinics.
I appreciate what you are going through, and I am sure it is probably hormonal, those little hormone beasties have a lot to answer for!!

One of my friends actually carries anti-persperant with her all day long in her purse (and has a back-up at her job in a cabinet just incase she forgets the one in her purse) and chooses to wear dark colored shirts. My other friend wears mostly tank tops and makes frequent stops into bathrooms to "freshen up." She also carries around anti-persperant with her and tissues. I have actually started eating more healthy and started taking vitamins and it's helped but not as much I hoped. Sometimes when I know that I will be seen - like if I have to attend a meeting and will be speaking - then I wear a double layer of shirts (obviously not in the summer, though). I would recommend asking your doctor like the first reader suggested (it seems that's what I will be doing because I'm at the end of my rope like you seem to be). I have heard of Drysol before and it's supposed to work really well. I also remember reading an article in a magazine about this a couple months ago, I will try to find it and let you know what it said later today.

This may sound crazy but you might want to pay a visit to your health food store and ask about some natural solutions for this. Talk to your doctor as well about ideas on diet. Avoid spicy foods. From your post it seems you are in high school and this could be connected to puberty. Good luck sweetie.

There is a deoderant/antiperspirant called DRYSOL that you can get from your pharmacist. It is available here in Canada...I do not know where you live but ask your pharmacist...there is probably an equivalent where you live. Hope this helps hun. xx00
