Dear Cupid

This is work related propblem. My office collegue doesnt work at all, he free rides ma all the time. But my managers everyone is basically giving him credit for my work.

Everyone knows im the one who is doing everything, but still he gets the credit. I am friendly to everyone, i work 10 hrs without a lunch break.

What am i doing wrong here, why is he getting credit for even my work,BTW my collegue actually taggged me to his communicator, so he can actually track whether im at my desk or not. He tries to send emails to higher authorities with my work whenever i am away from work or i leave for the day. I cannot hide from my work from him, since we are supposed to work together and its against policy to actually hide the information.

This is affecting my personal life too, looking after my back all the time.

What should i do now, please help

sugarplum786 agony auntHi, I am not sure what the nature of your work. But generally you give minimum information to the person and empower yourself with the knowledge. In other words no one but yourself should be a able to explain to the boss what is happening as the information on the document must be vague. This way people will know who is the brain behind it. This works if you are in the accounting dept.

Empower yourself with knowledge.

Your boss's are human. Ask for a meeting with them or the HR manager & be very honest. Try not to make this a personal problem byt be strong & confident in your point. If you have evidence, take it with you. If your company responds in a negative way or do not support you then get out. Hand your notice in & ask fr garden leave if possible so you can search for a new job. Nobody should feel ths way at work.
