How can I persuade him to go out with me and that my ex (his best friend) is not a problem?

Question - (17 February 2007) 1 Answers - (Newest, 18 February 2007)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi, I dated a guy for 6months and unfortunately that finished, but now I feel I'm ready to start dating again.

Typically for me, I have started liking his best friend and his best friend likes me alot too.

There's just one thing standing in the way. My ex. His best friend feels reluctant to see me because he feels that I like his best friend still, and he may upset his friend.

What can I do to persuade him that we should be together?

Thanks x

cd206 agony auntSimply put, you can't. The only thing you can do is talk to your ex and tell him how much you like his friend. Maybe he'll give you his blessing to have a relationship with his friend or maybe he won't. A lot depends on who broke up with who and your relationship now. If he refuses to get involved be patient. These best friend loyalties become less intense as you get older.
