 lazyman and blondebabe have it spot on - youre both inexperienced (hey we've all be there!!) so its going to take time. Just make sure the moments right and your emotions will guide you, trust me...
As for guitar songs, have you heard of Cavatina by John Williams? Its a beautiful instrumental piece, fairly challenging but if youve been playing more than a year there shouldnt be any probs. I got laid after playing it to a girl once, so it DOES work ;)

sadly i gave up the guitar a while ago, but plain white ts - hey there delilah is a good one, you want something romantic that she'll appreciate but avoid anything cliched! babybird - you're gorgeous may be too cliched but it's your choice. tender by blur is also good but very long. it's one you might want to kiss to.you could try poetry like a sonnet from romeo and juliet. but the one shared by the two that begins "If I profane with my unworthiest hand..." (it's act 1 scene 5)isn't one you can repeat as it involves both people.you could be ultra romantic by writing a short song for her. all need is 2 verses and a nice chorus, but writing isn't for everyone. have a think, maybe try to write it as a poem, don't declare your perpetual love for her - that might freak her out.one romantic gesture i haven't been able to use ignores all that soppy BS! if you're stargazing or lying down next to each other in a manner similar to stargazing, try this. you need a rushing heart rate. simply take her hand and put it on your chest so she can feel it. make a calm comment along the lines of 'this is what you're doing to me'. the moment must be right though, so be careful with that. it shouldn't look planned either! she should be receptive to it, although you'd probably have to ask a girl how it would be received before trying it. i take no blame if it doesn't work!!in terms of 'making out' as you call it, don't try. as you go to kiss, i close my eyes and lips, gently open you lips but not open too much. the distance between your lips in the middle should maybe be halfway between a normal kiss and a quiet whistle. hope you're following. if she responds to that i.e. copies you, then i'd hold the 'pose' for a couple of seconds then open you mouth a bit further. you have to be so gradual, you can't say 'hey, i wanna make out with you'.so assuming you're both in the mood, with mouths touching and open, try using your tongue(s). when doing this do not go at it like a washing machine, gently lick her tongue or something. you get the gist i hope.the 3 key words to remember about kissing are spontaneity, gentleness and tenderness. let it happen as and when, don't try to force it out of her.best of luck, keep your cool.
