I'm not 100% sure what your question is but if you are wanting to "understand" your partner, its difficult to always understand what the other person thinks, or why they do specific things.
After 9 years with my boyfriend I still dont understand why he does specific things. But its what he wants or how he wants it, so let him to it!
I love him with all his faults and vice versa. We get on with each other, perhaps dont always understand each other, but we have learned to compromise.
If you love him, then you need to learn to understand that you cant always "understand" him, but you just have to love him faults and all!
