Hi. This is my advise for you, it is very hard sometimes to talk on the phone a lot of the time it does not matter too much what you talk about as you only want to hear the other persons voice. What i would try to do is ask questions that require more than a yes or no answer for example ask when you were young what things did you like doing on your birthdays or where did you spend your holidays as a child and what things did you do to enjoy them, with these responces you will then find that in answer to his answers you will then speak about your holidays birthdays etc. If you ask questions like "did you have a nice day" you will get a yes or no answer that then leads you into thinking of something else to ask. Ask what things he likes to eat that leads you to talk about things you like to eat. When talking about sport ask if football how long have you liked that team and what made you like this team initially. above all try to think of subjects that you can talk about too.

good luck

Well you could just ask him about his day, what he did. And then if that doesn't start any stories tell him about yours. Or if your watching something particularly interesting tell him to go to that channel too and watch it with you and that can start a conversation. If all else fails play 20 questions. Lol. Please write back if none of these work I will make sure to give you more ideas.
