I'm getting quite jealous how inactive I've become and just sitting in all the time watching tv whilst my girlfriend is having the time of her life with her friends near enough every night. I'm 20 and I struggle as I am terribly shy. I have friends at university, but their controlling partners don't allow them to come on nights out anymore. My best friend has moved to Italy for the year, and my other close friends are also very much controlled by their partners. I have joined clubs and all sorts to try and make new friends, but being so painfully shy has held me back and I just can't seem to approach people or make any sort of conversation. Is there any online websites?I kinda just want someone who lives close by, who wants to go to a bar for a few drinks etc. Thank you!

For starters, have some confidence and self respect! :) People deserve the chance to get to know you! You can meet new people anywhere. Explore your neighborhood, go to a fun outing with a group of your friends (and their partners) and have them invite some of their guy friends. This way, not only do you get to spend time with your university friends, but you get to meet new people in a way that doesn't make you extremely uncomfortable because you will be around people that are familiar to you. Find common interests with these new people, bring up a favorite topic, and just relax!
