writes:I've never had a girlfriend but I'm building up my confidence thanks to some counselling. I just have a set back. Every time I ask what girls like in a guy they said 2 things,1 - Confidence2 Someone who can make them laughI'm starting to improve on the first one but I'm terrible on the second. The only time I can be funny is when I try to hard and it always backfires, and the only time people laugh is when I do something stupid.How can I improve on making a girl laugh without trying too hard?

reader, anonymous, writes (10 October 2008): It's easy to make girls laugh, if they are hard to break try poking fun at them a little, not too much but just to loosen the mood.you really just need to be relaxed and it helps to be a fast talker at times.

what i've noticed is that girls tend to laugh a lot more WITH you, rather than at you when you're not trying. Its a lot easier, also and you don't have to plan for it. Just sort of go with whatever you may think is funny, tell her but try not to make it too long. And if she doesn't find it funny, don't worry about it! Dating is a trial and process error, and if you find out she wasn't the right girl for you, you will 100% go better with the next one.Best of luck.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2007): Well the second thing kinda comes with the first. You need to be confident and relaxed to make a good joke. You can't force a good joke. Don't try to plan anything, just go with your instinct! Sometimes other people might find things funny without you trying to make them laugh!
If you do something silly then the best thing is probably just to laugh at what happened - that might help building your confidence too as well as people thinking that you are a nice person who is fun to be with!
Smiling is also a good thing to do too! x x x

 To be honest babe, some people are naturally funny and some of them aren't. The thing is, that question 'what girls like,' is so difficult that they tend to answer what everyone else answers. Instead of someone who 'makes them laugh', it normally means that they admire a man who is happy, positive, laughs quite a bit, and can be joked with. Hope this helps x

reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2007): Just laugh at the small things of life, and be sarcastic (but not in a mean way). Teasing her playfully is a good way to win her affection. Don't worry about it so much, oftentimes humour comes naturally when you look at a situation and find out what can make it humourous. Also, not all girls care about someone who makes them laugh as much as someone who respects them and is kind to them. So if the funny thing isn't working for you, try something else.

The 'making a girl laugh' thing and the 'confidence' thing come together. If you seem confident and say something remotely amusing she will laugh. Us girls are dying to find you funny and we love a good giggle so we will laugh at alomost anything you want us to :) ....and if you're stuck for a funny story, tell her about one of those times you were trying to hard and did something stupid - we love funny embarassing stories... and she might even tell you one :) xx

Relax. Once you'll find someone you feel comfortable and that you can be openly yourself without being afraid of doing "something stupid" or being silly, then you'll be funny. Because you'll be yourself.Don't judge yourself thinking that you're not funny or that you try too hard... just relax and enjoy being with the other person.
