A male reader, kenny United Kingdom +, writes (8 April 2007):

kenny agony auntThe best way to deal with this is to be brutally honest with him and tell him the way you feel. The longer you leave it the harder it will get, and his feelings for you will get even more stronger.

Tell him now rather than putting it off, he may initially be upset, but in time he will think more of you for not leading him on, and giving him false hope.

Good luck x

Not always easy, but if you just tell him you think he is fine, but he is going a little to fast for you, and you are not ready for a serious relationship, yet, it can be done well. If you can do this with grace and sincerity, he will respect it, unless he is unintelligent or immature...in which case nothing you say will make much difference. So just tell him. Better than to string him along for longer. That is not being kind or wise.
