I want to hug my best guy friend, he always hugs me first, and because I am caught off guard it's kinda awkward like his arms are around me but I'm sideways or My arms are squished up in between us, and he smells my hair, and sometimes I get butterflies! How do I initiate a hug and which should I go for? Arms around Waist or neck? I am not a hugger but I really want to hug him! Reply to this Question Share |

Just put you hands around his neck and make sure it doesn't last to long, a few seconds is enough, and make sure you have a smile at the end, you don't want to look dreamy, or he might get the wrong impression.

Side hugs are friendly hugs, full frontal hugs are another story.

When hugging a guy friend, one arm should be around his neck, the other around his ribcage. Keep your bodies a few inches apart and look to the side or over his shoulder.
Avoid eye contact while you are locked together. Smile either throughout the hug or only at the end.
No pressing of the torso, no looking into the eyes, and especially no glances at the lips or you may make him think you want him to kiss you.
You must be brief or he will think that you are a little to close for comfort...
