My wonderful supportive boyfriend and other friends don't understand it and take it personally. They get upset because they can't make me happy. How can I help them see that it is not their fault? I am assuming that you are getting professional support for this - if not, then you must go and see your GP who will put you in touch with the right people... this is something that you can't possibly fight alone.
As for your boyfriend and friends... they love you, they just want to see you happy and better, but they feel helpless. If you have any self help information, it may be good to share this with them. There are also websites that offer support to relatives and friends to enable them to understand your situation better, and guide them on how to help you.... I would advise that you get them to read up on it to give them a better understanding of your illness.
Good luck x
