OK guys I'm going to tell you how I got a bruise on my face... please do NOT always assume that a bruise is inflicted by another person...
I get bruises on my legs often as i walk into table corners frequently. I also managed LAST AUGUST to bend down in a shower stall in a hotel and because I did not see it I banged the corner of my eye (like 2 cm from the actual eye) on a handicapped railing edge... it cut the corner of my eye and gave me a black eye not to be believed.
NO ONE LAID A HAND ON ME... but it sure looked like I had the crap beaten out of me...
don't be so quick to judge....
that being said... if it's a very very very fresh bruise ice it well that helps... if it's an older bruise then the only thing I can suggest is that good pancake makeup in layers with coverup will help a bit.
that being said:
IF you are covering a bruise that was inflicted by someone else, please feel free to PM me and talk about that... I have been the recepient of abuse by a loved one and would be willing to listen and talk and not be judgemental about it.

Put toothpaste on it at night! Works for me when i have bruises. Might take a night or 2 to totally go, but it should reduce it enough to be able to hide it under make up easier.
If you're sat pondering whether this works or not, try it next time you have one... ;)

I also am curious. IF the bruise was by chance caused by spousal abuse(which I'm not suggesting it was, but...) then the way to get rid of it and the next one is by reporting it to the proper folks. I saw someone recommending a nake-up. That's cool but I'm more worried about the bruser than the bruise. I hoe that's not offensive, just trying to help and the worse piece of crap on the planet is a beater of women.Peace-out

U can use makeup/concealer. But sometimes depending on the status of the bruise, it can make it worse.

It will depend on a few factors: the location of the bruise, how much swelling the bruise is causing, and whether or not you have fair skin.
I've had a few bruises on my face in the past. They were caused by general clumsiness, stupidity, or seizures. I never bothered to cover them up with makeup and just treated them by using cold packs (covered in a towel, applied for 15 mins at a time) a healthy diet, and sleeping in a sitting position instead of lying down (to keep the swelling from increasing.)
Even with short hair, you do have the option of purchasing and utilizing either hair extensions or a wig if the bruise is in a location that could be covered by hair. If you visit a stylist, or salon supply store, someone can help you select the best hair product and style to hide the bruise.
If you are not very familiar with makeup you should visit a local mall that has a major department store like Macys, JC Penneys,

Make-up, top shelf, good quality make-up. You start with a cover-stick on the discolored area, then add liquid foundation over (best coverage) and tap it on, don't smudge it out. Add extra foundation on the bruise (you put foundation on your entire face). Finish off with transparent powder to make it stick. Add rouge and the rest of your make-up. Look up make-up/foundation tutorials on youtube for tips and ideas.
And, when you go out it'll be dark, people don't notice as much in the dark as in bright daylight, so that is one benefit.
The worst you can do is constantly touch it while at a party, or try to hide it with your hair, as that will only draw attention to the area! Ignore that the bruise is there, and no one but you will know of it.
A good cover stick and foundation covers EVERYTHING. It covers my acne scars, and it can surely cover your bruise. But you got to go for the pricy products. I use Clarins cover stick, Dior-skin Nude (foundation) and finish off with Estee Lauder transparent powder.
You can also experiment with flashy eye makeup to draw attention to your eyes.
