I don't think you can generally think up a nickname, they have to kind of just happen. Like what eyes said, except hopefully more loving than dumbass. :-p

Talk to him about it and see what he thinks about the idea. Don't ask complete strangers for suggestions use something personal that relates to you and him and something that will be a memory for you both and something personal for you both to share.

How about a moment you shared with him? Example would be lets say if you went to the state fair and he won at a contest of strength, you could call him he-man, or if he is really sweet you call him hunny bunny or if he is very protective and cuddly you could call him cuddle bear.
I dont know, but nicknames are pretty personal. One would have to know him really well (like you do) in order to come up with something fitting. Why not just let it come natural? I have found that if you try to force a nickname on someone, and it isnt spontaneous, spur of the moment, it usually wont stick.
