writes:Hey there, this is more of a problem about one of my friends and i need advice on how to help her out.A few weeks ago, my best friend (let's call her Stacy) went away for a few days. She has a boyfriend (let's call him John) and they both get along really well. Now, when Stacy got back from her 'holiday', she told me that she had gotten really drunk one night and had trouble getting home. On the way she stumbled and almost fell over in the road when a guy (let's call him Tony) caught her and helped her home. She then saw Tony at a club the next night and they really hit it off. She ended up sleeping with him before coming back, but didn't tell John. She continued this relationship with Tony, going down to his home town (the place she had been on holiday) and sleeping with him, telling John she might be moving there with her parents and they were checking out places. Eventually, she was overcome with guilt and told John she had been cheating on him. He said that he needed to think about some things and left, but left some conversations up on msn. One of them was with one of his mates who was talking about a girl. Stacy saw the message and thought it was odd, so she scrolled up and found out that John had been sleeping with anothe girl as well. She confronted him and they had a massive arguement. She feels really down because although he slept with someone else, she did the same, in fact worse - she dated someone over a few weeks, whereas his was a one night stand, but now she is distraught. How can i help cheer her up and help her get over all of this mess?

 If they've both slept with other people then it seems their relationship is dead in the water. In your situation I'd recommend they cut off all contact and just let time do the healing. You can be there for her, make sure she has fun and do stuff to take her mind off this.
