How can I bring him out of his shell?

Question - (26 September 2006) 6 Answers - (Newest, 28 September 2006)
A female United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

I recently started living with a family in the city I have my education in, and I have noticed one of their sons behaving very oddly around me. He seldom looks me in the eye, yet when he does, it's intensely and with a smile on his face. I can have good conversations with him, once I coax him out of his shell. Other times the conversation seems rather stilted, however.

He'll happily talk to my mum, yet when I talk to him- he'll avoid eye contact or look at me until I look him in the eye.

He's two years older than me, and a young adult.

He seems to be getting more confident round me, but I still can't really explain it.

Any insight anyone?

Are you attracted to him? I know the feeling he probably gets. I get it whenever I see my fiancee.

And burning CD's tut tut.

Oh well, I am just away now to sell some copied DVDs, cya around, lol

Best of luck

Toria agony auntI would say he was beaming as he got a few second of your time alone as you was returning the CD's.

If you like him and want to make something of this and as you live with him and his family you need to take things slowly also for the fact he is nervous around you.

He may not have had female attention before or it may just be the effect you've got on him that makes him act this way.

Good luck :o)

Just an update: he's 18 and I'm 16, and he's off to Russia next February for his gap year. I borrowed a couple of CDs from him to burn today- I just now returned them to his room, and he positively beamed from ear to ear at the prospect of me visiting his room! Maybe he has not had any female attention before?

Toria agony auntI agree sounds like he has taken a liking to you and therefore acts strangely around you.
