Hate the idea of speaking in front of a group (and HINT- who doesn't!) then go join speach or something that will get you practive. Go volunteer for something, mix with people and get to know them! It's not easy, but it's the BEST gift you can give yourself!
Second, know that we were all awackward at some point. Even people who you think are 100% secure often turn out to be very insecure and scared. It may take a few years to see this and at your age the world seems black and white- but trust me, at your age I felt like I was the ONLY one who didn't get it. Now I know that 99.9% of us felt the exact same way... we just neve compaired notes.
I've got a family memeber who does community theatre- it's not for profit and the shows are short runs, with short rehersal times. They'll practice for 3 or 4 weeks and do shows for 3 days. It's an all age range thing, folks from their 70's down to 5 or 6. All for fun, but it's great exposure for folks who want to have the experience. Good way to learn to relax.
Funny will come once you know how to listen, and add to a conversation. Don't worry about amusing those around you, those kids usually end up using humor as a cructh, and all too often the class clown flounders after high school.
