i disagree but yet i do agree lol. do what hidden says unless the bus is rather full in which case take the chance to sit by her :)

 Just smile at her next time you get on the bus, then maybe sit on the seat behind her. Don't sit next to her.. not when you don't know her, she might feel a bit intimidated. Just smile and say hi. See where things go from there.
