He can only make up his own mind, and he is a very silly man for getting in to a relationship with a student in the first place. He could lose his career over that and also the respect of his friends. Talk to him and tell him how dangerous this is. Just try and talk some sense in to him but am afraid the only person that he will listen to is himself.
