Holiday for possible date or romance?

Is travelling perhaps a way of meeting women for possible romance? I haven't been abroad but was looking at cruises or European holidays. I haven't been on a date in my life so would find it difficult to approach someone in the first place, i am not a nice-looking guy which makes it tougher. I am used to being ignored as people generally avoid engaging in conversation...back in school i was considered ugly and i haven't improved in my 40's. Should i approach women in my general age range? Or older, or even younger?

So_Very_Confused agony auntyou should approach anyone who appeals to you... at 41-50 I would not go too young...

as for being ugly.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

my short, snaggle toothed, myopic fiance is not all that good looking but to me he's darling....

btw I'm 52 and he's 39

Daisy_Daisy agony auntHi Richard,

Yes it is a way to meet new people. But i think it's better to think of it as broadening your horizons and making new friends, and if a romance comes out of it then so much the better.

Easier said than done but you do have to put yourself out there to make new connections. Go and book the cruise, tell yourself that it will be an adventure in itself and if you have a romance it will be the cherry on the cake.

Even if there's no romance, you will have had a new experience, travelled a bit, and expanded on your circle of friends, and romance may come from that (meeting friends of friends) rather than directly from the cruise.

Go for it! Have fun!
