A female reader, allovertheboardgirl United States +, writes (27 August 2009):

I would say definitely NOT because you have a kid together, doesn't that increase the likelihood that he will propose? As far as him feeling like he is moving too fast, you guys already have a kid together...sounds like a smokescreen to me. What exactly is he afraid of? Divorce? I would try and get down to the bottom of it by simply asking what his true concerns are. As an outsider it's hard to say why he doesn't want to get married without knowing him... because it could be 100 different reasons.
