I a man around 50, also had very bad track record, but promised the day he stood before god and promised to be faithful that he would do exactly that (this is his first marriage). Guess what, just found out that he never changed!

I have to say i believe people can change, maybe he has got to the point in his life where he wants to settle down.

I agree with Yummy Mummy with the cheater don't change their spots thing. he has cheated on every girlfriend he has ever had, so the likellhood is he will not have changed. If he says he has could you ever believe this is true or not.

If he has done it to EVERY girl he has ever been with then I doubt he'll change. Talk to him and see what he says on the matter.
It depends if you are prepared to risk being hurt or not. I'm not sure I would with someone with such a bad track record!
