Question - (5 March 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 5 March 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

well, iv been with my boyfriend for about two and a half years. lately, hes just started his first full time job, and im so pleased for him, but he claims its the reason he keeps 'forgetting' things, as he has 'a lot on his mind'.

for example, on saturday, we arranged for him to pick me up in the town centre at 1.30 so we could go to his sisters birthday party. i waited, and he didnt turn up, so at 1.50 i rang him, and he said he had forgotten he was meant to pick me up. i had to wait on my own in town untill 2.15 before he turned up. then, that evening, he got a phone call from his friend, who asked him to go out, and he said he would, even though i was there.

on tuesday evening, he said he would text me the next day on his lunch break. wednesday i got no text, but as we had arranged to go cinema that night (he was meant to be picking me up at 7.30) at 7pm i thought i would ring him just in case. he answered and said he had gone round his friends house as he 'forgot' we were going to the cinema, then he said he would be round my house about 9pm, and he didnt turn up, as he 'forgot'.

am i just being silly and looking too much into these things? or is this the beginnings of the downfall of our relationship?

why does he keep forgetting about me?

eyeswideopen agony auntHe may have a lot things on his mind but apparently you aren't one of them. You could play hardball and stand him up next time or you could cut to the chase and just ask him if he needs a break for awhile. For sure something will have to change, I'd insist on it if I were you.
