writes: Theres a guy in my year who i really like, we didnt used to talk much but recently he's been really (kinda over)friendly n spoke to me loads. but last time i was in a lesson with him he was with lots of his mates and he wouldnt look me in the eye. he spoke to me n messed around a bit but when his mates looked round he stopped n didnt speek to me again and i cant work out why. last time i was in that lesson when his mates were busy he came n sat with me 4 a bit.i no they're part of the more popluar, confident croud n im not but i dont know if that changes anything. reader, anonymous, writes (14 December 2009): It's unfortunate, but in schools, there's a social hierarchy that prevents people from acting the way they really want to, this along with the 'laddish' mentality that guys can't have feelings and have to treat women as objects (which most guys don't actually believe btw) can cause some guys to treat a girl very differently when they're by themselves, to when they're with friends, otherwise they'll be ridiculed, this guy obviously has his priorities mixed up. But don't just quietly suffer when he does this, try to work up the courage, then confront him about it, and make sure it's in front of his friends, that's when you'll see his true colours, and whether he's worth all the trouble
