I'm actually fine if things between us were platonic, but after he found out I was attached, the conversation sort of "died", like he wasn't interested anymore. I offered to introduce some of my girlfriends to him but he said he only wanted girls like me. Later that night he asked if I wanted to go clubbing with him and he was quite adamant. I'm not sure what his deal is, but is he interested in me? If he is, how do I politely let him know things are only going to be platonic between us?

It is a natural reaction for him to not be interested the moment he found out you was taken and that maybe there was no hope for him later on if your relationship does not. Stop meeting him, because that will send off the wrong signals.

yeah, he's interested in you. and he's hoping that you'll change your mind if he keeps pursuing you. he's not interested in being your friend.

You can't have platonic relationships with people who are attracted to you, which he is. It's a recipe for disaster. The fact the conversation 'died' when you told him you had a bf shows that he is not interested in being just friends with you. He only is if 'friendship' can serve as a portal to more. Don't go there. Be firm. "Listen, all I can offer is platonic friendship and I know that's not going to work because that's not what you want. Therefore I don't think it's a good idea to keep hanging out." And that's that.

Dear OP,
Yes, he is romantically interested in you. That's why you can't have a platonic friendship with him, it's not possible. If you keep meeting him, he will always hope for more. So accept that he doesn't show any interest anymore. It's just like that between men and women, if you're attractive then it's difficult to have platonic relationships with men. Because most of them would prefer to make it.. non-platonic, in the end.
