writes:Hi,Am having some trouble understanding a situation - I have had a few bad dating experiences lately and a couple of months ago I met someone I thought I could really like. We started going out and he seemed particularly thrilled with me, I've never had someone make me feel so good. A week ago he told me that he could not see a future with me and could never more than 'like' me. I was really shocked and upset. I know his last relationship ended badly and he admitted he was scared to get involved when we first met, but he gave me the impression that he was mad about me so I cant make any sense of this.Any answers would be appreciated.Thanks Reply to this Question

I think you might be right, I know he wants to meet someone to settle down with and I know I wouldn't seem the type to get married. That's not true though - I'd like to settle down too. It just seems so unfair that he would finish things when they were going so well. I wish there was something I could do but he seems to have made his mind up. Very frustrating. Your answer was very insightful and makes a lot of sense.Thanks again.

to be honest, I think he's freaked out. Maybe he doesn't quite trust you over something. If he's secretly jealous, or afraid that you might harm him emotionally in some way. Maybe he would like kids and you don't/ Or marriage, and you're not the marriage type, or vice versa. Think about it. Are there any conversations you had, where he had a concerned look on his face?

Atwitsend is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThanks for taking the time to answer. Just wanted to say that his last relationship ended a long time ago, he hasn't been with anyone since and the ex is with someone else. I don't think there was anyone else involved at all.
