Question - (30 June 2007) 1 Answers - (Newest, 30 June 2007)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 2 years, and we were very much in love. We planned a whole future together, and no matter how bad things got in the relationship the other would come through for us. Yesterday though, he said he needs "Time alone to find himself" And said it will be fine and that we would be back together cause he was doing this for us.

Then went and told his friend how the love has faded, how he's had a growing interest to talk to one of his exes, how he just wanted his life back and forget about me and that this would be the final break-up...I'm completely and totally distraught. He said I brainwashed him. I'm so hurt but I'm still holding onto that future that we promised together, and that things are going to work out, just like they always do. We've both given up our lives for each other, I don't know where to go from here. Advice please.

A female reader, flower girl United Kingdom +, writes (30 June 2007):

flower girl agony auntBabe you are young you have your whole life ahead of you, i'm not trying to justify the way he has dealt with this, but maybe he was scared of hurting you by telling you the way he really felt.

Unfortunatly the way he has done it has given you false hope that there is still a chance that there will be a future for the two of you.

The best way to try and deal with this is to give him the time he needs and go and get on with your life , get out there and enjoy yourself and meet new people, and if it is just a case of him needing to find himself, it might make him realise what he is losing.

Please don't feel as though you have given up your life for him, as your life has only just started.

Take care.xx.
