He said he's spending time with his family... should I believe him?

I have been dating this guy for almost 5 months now. We have known each other for almost 3 years. The whole time we have been friends he always tried to be with me, telling me how much he had fallin in love with me. So I finally gave him a chance, and found myself falling in love with him. He does work alot and isn't off much, but recently he was off for a whole month, and went home, which is 4 hours from me. Usually when he is working he is always texting me, saying how much he loves me and calls when he can. Well when he went home this time he basically ignored me, barely called or texted. When I questioned him he just said he was spending time with family. Should I believe him? What should I do? He says there is nothing else going on. I want to believe him, but why ignore me, if u love me so much, can't he find time to atleast talk to me?
