He did seem suprised and apprentaly no one has told him that before and hes had a few gfs all of which sounds weird to me. Will Its obvious he doesnt want to be with me because hes " flat out" im assuming that means hes taken or something.. Why do guys led girls on he was like so cool and know hes no longer in my life. Well if someone says they like you then it would be rather odd to just say "ok, thanks for letting me know!" He's going to have thought you wanted a relationship.
And "flat out" means very busy, rushed off your feet. To go flat out is like travelling with your foot flat on the floor, you are already at maximum speed.
Give him a bit of time. If he is surprised by this then he'll need time to take it in.
I would be very surprised if he didn't come and talk to you about this again.
