My boyfriend is immature and wants to spend all his time with his friends and playing video games. Which starts a lot of fights since we live together.Things have gotten physically violent between us many times in the last two years. I know I need to leave but this question is more about me. When the violence would start i would only fight back as safty like trying to push him off me or try to hit him away. I have noticed lately though that he makes me so angry that sometimes i start the hitting. I grew up with parents who hit each other and swore that I would never hit or be hit but I have let that happen. He is the only person in my entire life that I have met that makes me want to be violent. My question is besides the two obvious counseling and leaving him what else can I do to control my temper and why is it that only he can raise my temper like that?Thank you everyone!

Hi,
a lot of men can get you like that cant they?.
Well obviously you know that you are wrong to hit him, but I can understand that its out of frustration. My best friend went to anger management classes, for exactlly the same reasons as you. One night her boyfriend pushed her so far, she punched him in the eye in front of his mates. He had the worst black eye I have ever seen and she was mortified that she had done it.
He didnt talk to her for about a week and moved out to his sister's. Eventually he went back, but I think that it scared my friend into taking action over her violent temper.
I have to say she is a changed person, so its well worth a try. Good luck babe.
