A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

So basically, about 2 years ago, I moved to a new college and so did a new friend that I had made. We both ended up really liking each other. His bestfriend also came to this new college too. At the beginning the bestfriend and I really got along.

However, after a while things got sour for an unknown reason. He really seemed to dislike me, but he would make it obvious by dropping a few sly comments. He even admitted to his bestfriend that I liked at the time that I'm annoying.

We even used to sit together in this one subject and I could just feel that he didn't want me there so I swapped with someone? I felt like the underlying issue was that he liked me but I wasn't sure. I thought he may like me but doesn't want to because of his loyalty to his bestfriend? But sometimes he would be quite nice.

For example, we walked home from college together and we were sharing food, one time I lost my iPod that had sentimental value and he searched everywhere with me to find it after I insisted he go home, he's bought me food and ice cream numerous times, he's waited with me for the bus a couple of times, one time I fainted and he helped me home. Anyways another year later, my friend and I no longer like each other we have moved on but we're good friends and him and the bestfriend are still super close.

The bestfriend and I just get hot and cold and can either be very bitchy with each other or nice. Seems like we just put up with each other for the sake of it because we're in the same social group.

Anyways, we had our prom today.

And obviously I dressed up and I stood out because I wore something cultural and I warned everyone beforehand because I was embarrassed a little bit and I joked how they would all laugh at me.

Our social group is quite brutal with each other :P. I decided to sit with the girls for prom, so I went over to the boys' table to say hello etc.

And the bestfriend looks at me and says so you did the curly hair? And he touches my hair? Which I found just generally strange.

Then I joked about my height because I'm so short I asked hey guys am I any taller? And showed them my heels and he just grabbed my heel and kinda felt my foot I don't know?

Then he said "you said we would laugh, we're not laughing, there's nothing to laugh at" and he looked so serious staring directly into my eyes.

Anyways we danced a little bit together, not exclusively just as a group. There were a few people that had been drinking and got a little crazy, and he got kinda protective because he knows drinking and drunks make me uncomfortable and he put his arm out across to protect me from this reallyy drunk guy and then later everyone was taking pictures together and he actually asked me to take a picture of just us two, we took sooooo many pictures together because he kept asking to, and when he put his arm around me, he really held me close?

Some of his mannerisms suggest he may like me?

Some of his other mannerisms suggest he doesn't?

I don't get it? I don't think I can flat out ask him if he likes me because I don't want to get in between a bromance because it would look like I went after one now I'm going for the other? It would be great to get an outside perspective :/ xxx

aunt honesty agony auntThe only way you will find out is if you ask, you have said yourself you and his best friend are no longer interested in each other therefore you should forget all about him. If you like this guy then tell him, you have nothing to lose.
